Carter Unhappy Over Benching

October 26, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Kevin Carter isn’t starting, and he isn’t happy. The Rams’ pro bowl defensive end will be coming off the bench Sunday in San Francisco because coach Mike Martz isn’t happy with Carter’s play. Carter says resents the insinuation that he’s not giving effort. He points out that his numbers through seven games this year are very similar to the numbers he had at this point last year. He has one more sack this year, one fewer tackle, and 8 fewer quarterback pressures. Martz says Carter isn’t giving them results. Sean Moran will start in Carter’s place. Cornerback Todd Lyght will also be on the bench, replaced by Dre Bly. Both Carter and Lyght will probably play. Lyght will see a lot of time against San Francisco’s three receiver sets.
