Missouri is really under the gun now to lower the blood-alcohol level needed to show drunken driving. The President has signed a bill cutting off road-building funds for states that don’t drop the blood alcohol level to .08. Senator Morris Westfall of Halfway has tried and failed four times to get the legislature to do it. He says he’d like to see lawmakers get the bill passed early in the coming session. Missouri stands to lose more than $8 million in federal highway money if the legislature does not pass a bill making it illegal to drive with a blood-alcohol level of more than .08.
