The two men who hope to follow in the footsteps of Governor Carnahan think he’ll be remembered for several things. Democrat Bob Holden thinks Carnahan will be remembered as the governor for children, and as one of the state’s greatest chief executives. Republican Jim Talent thinks the governor’s quiet, down-to-earth style will be his political heritage. What remains to be seen is whether the political aftermath of Carnahan’s death will affect voter turnout and tilt the race in either Holden or Talent’s direction.
