Carnahan: "I’ve had a very wonderful life"

October 23, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Governor Carnahan reflected on his own life in his last interview. He spoke last with reporter Missy Shelton of KSMU in Springfield and looked back on his life. He said, “I’ve had a very wonderful life and I’ve enjoyed both my private life…as well as my public roles.” Carnahan died in a plane crash south of St. Louis along with aide Chris Sifford, and his son Randy, who also spoke with Shelton and talked about the man. Carnahan’s son said, “Instead of being a politician, he’s just ‘dad.’….Being governor, running for the Senate, it really hasn’t changed him at all. He’s still the same person that I knew as a father and grew up in this home. And I just can’t tell you how proud I am…”–Listen to excerpts from interview at: https://www.missourinet.com/audio_archive.htm
