FAA sites instrument problems prior to crash

Federal investigators in Jefferson County say instrument problems were experienced in the plane that carried Governor Carnahan to his death moments before contact was lost with it Monday night. A National Transportation Safety Board spokesman has briefed reporters in Jefferson County. The transcript from the flight also shows the pilot was trying to use a second guidance device on the co-pilot’s side of the cabin…but there’s no indication from the transcript if it was operating. The last contact with between the plane and the control tower at Lambert-St.Louis airport was just a couple of minutes before contact was lost. Searchers are still looking for pieces of the plane at the crash site. — Audio from NTSB news conference at https://www.missourinet.com/audio_archive.htm
