Search for governor’s plane suspended

October 17, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

(Jefferson County) Rough terrain and darkness has forced authorities to suspend the search for bodies and wreckage near St. Louis… where a plane belonging to Governor Carnahan went down Monday night. Authorities haven’t confirmed whether Governor Carnahan was aboard…but he failed to make a scheduled campaign appearance in New Madrid County Monday evening. The plane crashed about 25 miles south of St. Louis. Authorities say they’re worried about the safety of officers searching the crash site in the darkness…so they’ve suspended activity until dawn.
