Lieutenant Governor Roger Wilson says he’s ACTING governor of Missouri for now. The announcement comes in the aftermath of a plane crash involving Governor Mel Carnahan, Carnahan’s son Roger, and campaign aide Chris Sifford. Wilson has told reporters in Jefferson City that he won’t officially be sworn in as governor until law officers identify the body of Governor Carnahan at the crash site. Carnahan was on his way to a campaign stop in southeast Missouri Monday night when his plane went down in a rugged area about 25 miles south of St. Louis. Law officers have suspended the search for bodies and wreckage, because of concerns about the safety of searchers in the rough terrain.
