The old Amoco oil refinery in Kansas City’s Sugar Creek community is under the microscope. This time, residents claim the refinery has caused an unusual number of multiple sclerosis cases among nearby residents. Last month, scientists dismissed long-standing claims the refinery had caused an usually high incidence of brain tumors. The Jackson County Health Department will oversee a 2-year study on the new charges.
