An insanity defense will be used later this month when Kansas City resident Mary Bass goes on trial, charged with killing two of her triplet sons. Bass is charged with 16 crimes, including two counts of second-degree murder. Her sons, Larry and Gary, died last October from infected burns on their feet, and starvation. They were eight years old. A jury from Phelps County will hear the case when the trial begins in Jackson County on the 16th.
