Senator John Ashcroft is backing a proposal that would allow drug wholesalers to bring in pharmaceuticals from Canada and Mexico that are sold for less than they are in the United States. Ashcroft says the plan has drawn bi-partisan support in Congress and has the backing of the president. He says people who live in border states already cross over to enjoy the lower prices. He thinks outlook for passage is “extremely favorable.”
