Train derails in Jefferson City

September 27, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A Union Pacific train sprawled across the railroad tracks near downtown Jefferson City Monday morning, after it apparently jumped the tracks. Tim Price, who shuttled rail crews from local hotels to the depot, says the derailment occurred just after a shift change. Light rain had been falling all morning in Jefferson City, but preliminary discussions of a cause are focusing on a broken segment of rail. No one was injured in the accident.
