A recent report indicates it would take more than $3 billion dollars to upgrade Missouri school buildings. Upgrades would add classrooms for full-day kindergarten, include improvements for air conditioning, Internet access and better security. Missouri Association of School Administrators Executive Director Gary Sharpe says some local school districts struggle to make those kinds of improvements. Sharpe says the districts would be able to make the improvements if they didn’t have to win super-majorities for bond issues. He says state and federal help would be beneficial as well.
