Johnny Damon tripled to start the ninth, and Luis Ordaz singled him home as the Royals beat the Tigers 7-6, in another last at-bat win at home. The Tigers led 5-1, but committed three errors, leading to three unearned runs for the Royals that helped them rally to tie the score. Ricky Bottalico got the win in relief. He is 9-6, tied for the team lead in victories with Jeff Suppan. The Royals have extended George Brett’s contract. Brett will continue in his role as vice president for baseball operations for three years.
