Auditor criticizes abuse funding

September 27, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A state audit raises suspicions some counties are not providing help for victims of domestic violence even though they have collected money to do that. And auditor Claire McCaskill says other counties are not using the fund-raising tools they have been given. She says more than half of Missouri’s 114 counties are not collecting fees they could collect to provide the services. She thinks collections of fees and tax credit funding should be left to the department of public safety, not left to the individual counties.
