Old friends vie for congressional seat

September 25, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A former Missouri House veteran believes he has a real chance of upsetting the incumbent Congressman and taking the 9th Congressional District back for Democrats. Steve Carroll of Hannibal insists the make-up of the district in northeast Missouri makes incumbent Republican Kenny Hulshof vulnerable. Carroll lumps Hulshof with Republican leaders who he claims have failed to address the pressing needs of America, such as a patient’s bill of rights, prescription drugs for the elderly and a safety net for farmers. The two men go way back, and are friends from their days at the University of Missouri. In fact, they were fraternity brothers at MU’s Farmhouse.
