Kathy Sudiekis with the Kansas City travel agency All About Travel blames flight scheduling for many delays. In particular, the fact that most travelers want late-afternoon flights so they can arrive home in time for evening activities. She also blames the hub system airline companies use, which causes a domino effect of delays. She says change is coming in the industry to deal with all the delays. Many airlines are looking at reducing the number of layovers they schedule to limit chain-reaction delays. Until then, she suggests starting early in the day to avoid an overnight layover.
