State Division of Aging Director Richard Dunn is considering a proposal to broaden the employee disqualification list kept by the division. The state auditor says the division should be given the authority by the legislature to keep those on the Division of Family Services and Department of Mental Health disqualification lists out of Missouri nursing homes. Dunn says that process is more complicated issue than it appears. The auditor says more than 600 people who would be disqualified to work with children or the mentally ill work in the state’s nursing homes.
