Disabled caretaker charged in heat deaths

September 18, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Prosecutors have filed a pair of charges against a special care provider suspected in the death of two developmentally disabled men. Cedric James is charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter. He’s accused of leaving the two disabled men in a sweltering car in Kansas City in 106 degree heat. The men from a special care home where James worked died after an unknown amount of time alone. James is charged in Johnson County, Kansas, where the care home is located. The men were left on the Missouri side of the line, near Swope Park, where they died.
