Kile Wins 18th; Magic Number 8

September 13, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Darryl Kile survived a rain delay to earn his 18th win as the Cardinals pounded the Pirates 11-1 and reduced their magic number to 8. Kile did not allow an earned run in six innings of work. Fernando Tatis had three hits, including his 16th home run. Mike Matheny and Shawon Dunston each had three hits as well, and Matheny homered, his sixth of the year. The Cardinals play their final game at Three Rivers Stadium tonight. The Pirates will move into a new ballpark next season. Rick Ankiel will start tonight against Todd Ritchie.
