The Titans scored with under a minute left to tie the Chiefs, then beat them in overtime, 17-14. The Chief defense had helped stake Kansas City to a 14-7 lead, thanks to Donnie Edwards 42 yard interception return for a touchdown. Elvis Grbac hit Derrick Alexander for a 16 yard TD to give the Chiefs the lead in the 3rd quarter. But Neil O’Donnell, playing quarterback after the Chiefs knocked Steve McNair out of the game, threw a touchdown pass to Yancy Thigpen with 50 seconds left to tie it. The Titans won the toss, and drove into position for a 36-yard field goal by Al Del Greco. The Chiefs had a chance to win in regulation, when they drove to the Tenenssee 35, but were pushed back by consecutive penalties. The Chiefs were outgained 353-189 in the game, and averaged less than two yards per rushing attempt. The Chiefs are 0-2.
