Secretary of State candidates clashed over campaign contributions during a debate held at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. Democrat Steve Gaw accuses Republican Matt Blunt of getting around campaign contribution limits by accepting money funneled into his campaign by his father, Congressman Roy Blunt. Blunt says Gaw is attempting to shift the focus away from the issues of the campaign. And though Gaw stops short of calling the transactions illegal, Blunt says that’s exactly what Gaw is charging.
