Schnucks has announced its closing three of its St. Louis-area grocery stores. 73 full-time employees are affected at the stores in downtown St. Louis, west St. Louis city, and in south St. Louis county. Company spokeswoman Marie McGeehan says all the workers will be offered jobs at other Schnucks stores. She says the stores were closed because of low sales. Company officials also site increased labor costs as part of the company’s new contract with its labor union.
