State employees to pay for coverage

September 7, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Missouri Consolidated Health Care Plan that covers state workers has announced it will charge state workers for the first time, proposing a fee of at least $120/year for basic health coverage. Executive director of the plan, Ron Meyer, acknowledges Missouri Consolidated is simply joining other plans that no longer provide coverage totally paid for by employers. Meyer says he was taken by surprise by the nearly 50% increase in HMO costs.
