Royals Rally to Beat Yanks

September 7, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Royals were up to their early season tricks again, rallying to beat the Yankees in the ninth. Carlos Febles doubled home the tying run, and scored the winner on Johnny Damon’s fourth single of the game as the Royals won 3-2. The rally made a winner of starter Brian Meadows, who scattered nine hits and two runs over nine innings. Trailing 2-0, the Royals finally broke through against Orando Hernandez with a run in the 8th. The ninth-inning rally came against Mike Stanton, as Yankee closer Mariano Rivera was given the night off. The Yanks and Royals finish their four game series tonight.
