The Public Service Commission says Missouri-American Water Company cannot increase customers’ bills in other cities to pay for a new water plant it has built in St. Joseph. The commission says the people of St. Joseph are going to have to pay the bills that will pay the $70 million dollar cost of that new plant. Consumers in some other cities complained that Missouri-American planned to hike rates by 50% or more in their towns to pay for the St. Joseph plant. The PSC has not decided how much St. Joseph residents will pay.
