Vladimir Guerrero put on a show for Cardinal fans, though not the kind of show they wanted to see. The Montreal outfielder belted a pair of homers, and helped the Expos end the Cardinals six game winning streak by beating them, 7-2. Garrett Stephenson fell to 15-8, suffering his first loss since July 20th, though he didn’t pitch that badly. He allowed four runs in 8 innings. Reliever Alan Benes, who has been struggling for months, gave up three more runs in the ninth. The Cards’ magic number to clinch the division didn’t change. It is 15. The teams play the finale of the four game series this afternoon. Darryl Kile will try to give the Cards 3 of 4 in the series when he goes for his 17th win against Tony Armas Jr.
