Abuse of the elderly has become a more serious matter in Missouri. A new law primarily targets the financial abuse of senior citizens, but as Division of Aging Deputy Director Jerry Simon notes it extends beyond just financial dealings. Simon says it also closes a loophole and gives prosecutors more power to bring charges of financial abuse. The law includes exceptions allowing for good-faith investments that might fail.
