Charges to follow KC hostage crisis

September 7, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Two men who held off Gladstone police for 26 hours now face federal kidnapping charges. Both Lawrence Riley and Jason Alcorn are from Kansas City, Kansas. Authorities claim they joined three others in a robbery, then kidnapped a women and held her hostage after wrecking their SUV. Police surrounded the vehicle in Gladstone and waited for the hot weather to force the two to give up. It took the last suspect 24 hours in 106 degree heat to finally stumble out of the stifling car. Federal prosecutor Robin Fowler says the two will be held in custody this weekend before being formally charged.
