Missouri executes 3rd inmate in 2000

September 5, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

A man convicted in a triple murder in Cape Girardeau has died for his crime. Gary Roll lapsed into unconsciousness with barely a cough at 12:04. He died at 12:07. Just minutes before his execution, the 47-year-old man dictated his final statement which read in part, “My hope is that all men and the Nation of Israel should return to their God. As I have stated with great remorse before and now, is that I am sorry for any and every hurt I have caused and may God bless all life.” Roll was one of 3 people–and by all accounts the ringleader–in the August 1992 robbery and murder of a Cape Girardeau family. The other two suspects received life in prison.
