Kansas City could set a record for water usage this week if the heat stays around. The city came near the record of 192 million gallons used in one week last week. The city water department says it has plenty of extra capacity, but says the high demand could put a little extra pressure on the system’s smaller pipes. Temperatures have hovered at or above 100 degrees in Kansas City for a week.
