Summer rainfall scattershot

August 28, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Missouri saw pretty spotty rainfall over the month of August. Kansas City had just a trace of rain all month. Two hours to the east, Columbia was doused with nine inches of rain! National Weather Service Meteorologist Kyle Weisser says that’s typical for summer storms. They tend to be smaller and hit the same area over and over. He says fall rains tend to fall more evenly across the state. We also get more of it. The average rainfall in Missouri for August is about four inches. Next month, it is almost five inches.
