He is now five homers short of Steve Balboni’s franchise record. Johnny Damon and Wilson Delgado each had two hits, and Dan Reichert lasted 5 and 2/3 innings in the heat to improve to 8-6. He allowed three runs. Reliever Chris Fussell was cuffed around for four runs in the 8th as the Sox tried to rally from 11-3 deficit. Boston knuckleballer Tim Wakefield allowed 9 runs in 5 innings. The Royals are off today, and then finish their homestand with two games against Minnesota.
