Should be the hottest day of the year for much of Missouri today. Many parts of the state will top 100 degrees and Kansas City could break a record for today of 104, set back in 1984. National Weather Service Meteorologist Mike July says Kansas City and south should be the hottest today; northeast Missouri the only area spared the sweltering conditions. July says the heat will likely last into Thursday or Friday. Once we get into September, the nights will start to get longer and keep things more temperate into the fall.
