Porn law helps prosecutors

New legislation that will better protect children from those who produce obscene material takes effect Monday. Cole County Prosecutor Richard Callahan likes the new law, though he concedes parts of it may be bad public policy. In particular, prosecutors no longer have to prove who the child subjects are in confiscated materials to get a conviction. Callahan says that is especially important in an age of digital photography when the identities of child images can be masked or obscured.
