Rams Sharp In Final Tune-up

August 25, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Rams’ final preseason tuneup can be considered a success. The Rams not only came out of the game healthy, but they managed to win, beating the Cowboys, 24-17. St. Louis ran up all 24 points in the first half, when quarterback Trent Green completed 9 of 12 passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns. Safety Keith Lyle returned a fumble 42 yards for a touchdown. Starting quarterback Kurt Warner and running back Marshall Faulk did not play. The Rams new punter, rookie John Baker, averaged 40.6 yards on five punts, and dropped several kicks inside the twenty. The Rams finished the preseason 2-2, while the Cowboys were 0-5.
