Rams Hope Punter Proves Himself

August 24, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Punter John Baker will be the focus of heavy attention tonight as the Rams play their final preseason game in Dallas. Baker has a chance to win the job with a good performance tonight. If he struggles, the Rams will likely bring in a new punter after NFL teams make roster cuts Sunday.Quarterback Kurt Warner will not play tonight, to give Trent Green a chance to play with the first unit. Coach Mike Martz says he has three goals: to stay healthy, to get a good look at players on the bubble for a roster spot, and to get backups some quality playing time, in case they have to start later this year.
