Missouri firefighters back from the West

August 24, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Many of the more than 460 firefighters from the U.S. Forest Service in Missouri who traveled west to battle the wildfires have returned home. They’ll soon be off again after resting for a few days. Charlotte Wiggins, spokeswoman for Mark Twain National Forest says it’s not just firefighters leaving this state to offer help out west. Missouri is also sending out administrative support. Wiggins says many of those returning are saying the western wildfires are the worst forest fires they’ve seen in their careers.
