Senator Kit Bond gets high marks from a national small business magazine. Fortune Small Business ranks Bond as the third most influential person in Washington on small business matters. Bond ranks behind the head of the Small Business Administration and the president of the National Federation of Independent Business in the magazine’s ranking of the Power 30. Bond became chairman of the Senate Small Business Committee in 1995. He counts a measure to reduce red tape as his biggest accomplishment as chairman.
