Seaboard shrugs off St. Joe clamor

August 23, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

St. Joseph is sounding like it’s still high on the list for an enormous hog processing plant. A spokesman for Seaboard Farms says the area would work well because of the interstates in the area and the access to Kansas City’s job market. Despite a city council resolution discouraging the company from locating in St. Joseph, Gary Reckrodt says Seaboard could still put its 130 (M) million dollar plant in the area. He says the plant would look more like an office building, have little or no smell, and employ thousands of people. A decision is expected this fall.
