Missouri has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service over protection of two endangered species and the impact of that designation on Missouri River flows. Attorney General Jay Nixon says the state has no problems protecting the pallid sturgeon fish and a bird called the interior least tern but failure to designate critical habitats for these animals allows for no control over the river.
