Chiefs Put Local Product Perez on IR

August 23, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

The Chiefs have made several moves to get down to the 65-man roster limit they had to reach Tuesday. Wide receiver Joe Perez, who starred at Bishop Miege High School, has been placed on injured reserve. The Chiefs say he suffered a knee injury in the team’s first preseason game. Perez will not be eligible to play this season. The Chiefs also waived three players: Center Aaron Graham, tight end Kirk McMullen, and cornerback Wasswa Serwanga. The position that will get the most attention in the Chiefs’ final preseason game at Tampa Bay Friday is quarterback. Not that Elvis Grbac has to worry. His starting job is safe. But Warren Moon, Todd Collins and Ted White are battling for the two backup spots, and none of them has a lock on a job. Each should see playing time against the Buccaneers.
