Bucs Blast 3 HR’s Off Kile, Beat Cards

Darryl Kile ran out of gas suddenly in the 7th inning, and the Pirates erupted for 4 runs to beat the Cardinals 6-2. The game was tied at 2 in the 7th when Alex Ramirez led off with a pinch hit homer to give Pittsburgh the lead. The Pirates followed with five more hits in the inning, including a two-run homer by John Vander Wal that finished the scoring. Kile allowed 11 hits and 3 homers in 6 and 2/3 innings to fall to 14-9. Brian Giles also homered for the Pirates. Josias Manzanillo got the win in relief, as four Pirate pitchers combined to shut out the Cardinals after the fourth inning. The Reds also lost, keeping the Cardinals lead at 7 and 1/2 games.The Cards and Pirates play the rubber game of their series tonight. Rick Ankiel will start against Todd Ritchie.
