Mussina Keeps Royals’ Bats Quiet

August 22, 2000 By admin Leave a Comment

Just when the Royals start to get some great pitching, their bats go quiet. Mike Mussina held Kansas City to just one unearned run in 7 innings, as Baltimore won 2-1. The Royals have now lost two straight games by that score. Brian Meadows was the hard-luck loser this time. He pitched 8 innings, allowing 7 hits and 2 runs, but just one earned. For the second straight game, Jermaine Dye drove in the Royals’ only run. Dye had three hits, but his throwing error put Brook Fordyce on third in the 5th inning. Fordyce scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly. The Royals open a three-game series in Toronto tonight.
