Something called a “bow echo” credited with a destructive storm north of Kansas City. National Weather Service Meteorologist Peter Browning says a bow echo is a combination of several squalls that funnel winds into a complex storm system, causing widespread damage. And bow echoes can last up to a couple of hours if they’re being “fueled” properly. The storm Saturday night sunk several boats at Smithville Lake, damaged a marina, overturned numerous campers, and blew over a hangar at Excelsior Springs Airport.
