The Clay County election board says “no” to a new election in a controversial county commission race. The board met yesterday and decided against a special election in the matter. Many polling places ran out of ballots. But elections officials could find fewer than 30 people who signed in to vote and couldn’t get a ballot. Incumbent Jim Lawson lost by 55 votes. He’s threatening to pursue legal action. But election board members fear democrats would show up at the election and affect the outcome.
