Governor Mel Carnahan had his chance in the limelight yesterday as he addressed the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. The governor, who’s locked in a tight senate race with incumbent John Ashcroft, says he can improve the lives of Missourians and all Americans. Carnahan says he’ll put his record up against Ashcroft’s any day and insists he not Ashcroft can do more to help working Americans. Carnahan tweaked Ashcroft about his absence from the GOP convention, saying he was kept off the stage because he is too far right.
