The Man who Would be Speaker has addressed the state delegation at the Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles. St. Louis Congressman Richard Gephardt of St. Louis hopes to shed his title as Minority Leader and ascend to the podium as Speaker of the U.S. House. He tells the Missouri delegation things would change under his leadership, complaining republicans have shut out democrats since taking control of Congress six years ago. Gephardt says he would seek input from all sides before making decisions, unlike republicans.
