State fair director Gary Slater complains that it gets harder every year to round up grandstand acts for the fair. He says people just don’t go on the road the way they used to because of widespread use of the internet and venues like MTV. Slater says that’s why you won’t see people like Shania Twain or the Dixie Chicks in front of state fair grandstands the way you used to see people like George Jones or Conway Twitty.
