Jury selection begins today in the trial of former Chief Bam Morris. Morris is charged with drug-trafficking and money-laundering. Prosecutors say Morris and two others ran a marijuana distribution ring partially financed by former Chief Tamarick Vanover. Vanover and the two men charged with helping Morris have all pleaded guilty and will testify against Morris. Other current and former Chief employees are also on the witness list. Morris faces 5 to 80 years if convicted, and a conviction could also trigger a probation violation from a previous drug conviction in Texas, leading to ten years in prison there.
