Charges have been filed against a southwest Missouri man accused of killing his young son. Prosecutors on Friday filed second-degree murder charges against Brett Svoboda. His 54-day-old son, Trey, died in January after being crushed to death. A medical examiner’s report found Trey had been squeezed so hard his ribs were broken in 36 places. Taney County Prosecutor Rodney Daniels kept the case secret from the public until last month, only then asking for the help of the Missouri Highway Patrol. He has failed to explain why it took 6 months for his office to request assistance.
